Precedent 1-24 Perkasa
« on: October 24, 2009, 09:13:21 pm »

A friend of mine as just purchased the moulded hull version of the above to build over winter and as asked my advice on the best motor, ESC, batteries etc. I have never built any thing like this so have no experience.

All help gratefully received or if you can point me in the right direction here.

Many thanks

Gents,

Thankyou both for your quick and informative replies. The man in question has no internet access (would you believe) so I think the way to approach this will be to invite him over to mine, show him the pics and videos and let him make his own choice.

Once again many thanks.

Well that was good I have just found out that it is not the 1-24 but the smaller version, so we may have to start again.

Sorry Colin H.

I have the 1/32 Perkasa and I fitted it with one of my 900s running on 18 cells (22.6 volts) and it was............ "interesting" (very quick to say the least) with 4300mah Nimh batteries I got a good 40-45 minutes run time on a 50mm 'X' prop. 10-12 cells (12-14.4 volts ) would give a much more reasonable scale speed.

Don't worry Colin I get loads of funny questions so I am sort of used to it!!!!! The prop is just a cheap plastic 2 blade racing prop I haven't got round to putting a brass one on yet!!

Mark always the same when you deal with the public, But I like the way that one day they will make you cry and bang your head and the next laugh your socks off. Thanks for your help.

I will recommend the 12 cell 14.4v pack to him otherwise it could end up moored 15ft up the bank.

Hi Chaps,
Well would you guess The model mentioned above was delivered to me on Saturday in the box untouched. The man in question wants me to start the build for him i.e. fit the internal bulkheads and so on, then power it up and put the electrics in. He will then complete the super structure and do the paint job.

First question I have completed the bulkhead/motor mount assembly and am at the stage of fitting this into the fibre glass hull. The instructions tell me to pull the sides of the hull inward to meet the bulkhead but this seem to distort the hull to a great degree. As this is not my boat I want to get things right so if anyone as built this model and can help it would be most appreciated.

Mark I will ring you with an order later in the week.

Kind regards Colin H.
