how to weather a model boat.

Can anyone tell me how i would go about weathering my boat once its finished.I have watched endless videos on youtube but unfortunatlly they are all on a very small scale.My boat is 6ft long with an 18" beam and the full size vessel is finished in Alluminium unpainted.I have painted my boat in the alluminium paint and it looks convincing but in my oppinion it looks a bit new and needs aging abit.Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this on such a large scale without messing the full boat up. {:-{

There is a good article in the last Model Boats Mag on weathering. Doing a wash seems to be a good method, if your interested I could scan and send it to you.

....got it sasha, will have to wait til tomorrow as my wolf is asleep beside the box there in, and he gets grumpy when you try to wake him.
