Hi ixion, I bought the Maggie M from them at Blackpool, there was a piece missing from the rudder, phoned Tuesday and I had the bit on Saturday morning even with the postal strike.
I would suggest phone rather than email.
Must admit I am a bit bothered about the rudder in white metal.

I have not made a Model Slipway kit as such, but for those kits supplied with white metal rudders I have built I have always used the supplied item as a pattern for making up a replacement in brass or ply which is lighter and probably more robust. Likewise I always replace white metal props with brass ones. I prefer to have my running gear made out of traditional materials.

That is not to say the ones supplied in the kit won't work, they probably will ,but they reflect the fact that it is easier and cheaper for the manufacturer to cast the items rather than fabricate them.

Right Colin, reading your post I have come to think that I would be better off making one out of brass as weight is no problem, the white metal post going from the rudder into the boat could easily sheer.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Laurie and Jackie are really helpful and their kits are excellent but I must admit to changing quite a lot of white metal parts for brass, normally stanchions and the like.

I am building the MS kit of the RN Loyal tender.  I broke a small metal part, e-mailed MS and here came the replacement, free of charge.  Good folks to work with.   :-))
