I went to the demo page for the banner ads manager, and that does it too.

Also noticed that when running XP and i have shut down the Mayhem link and on this instance gone to the Tug site , It is still doing it..  Not sure about W7

And also I have noticed in the Windows task Manager on each click it makes thecpu spikes at 25to 35 % each time ?? on the iexplore.exe file.  if thats of any help.

I'm still using Win 98 SE, index page only is affected (although on other pages I can hear my hard disk chuntering away).

Can't say that it's the end of my world (quite) but the clicking does get a bit ..... {:-{

Not really sure what I'm trying to fix here. If you have navigated away from the the Forum main page and it's
not open in any other tab then I have no explanation!  {:-{

Close ALL other windows and tabs and open this link, if you are still getting the loading bar or the refresh 'click'
then there is something else going on outside of the Forum

Martin, watch your sponser links on the forum page and I think that you will find that when they change thats when the bar runs and the click sound appears. This is the server loading the new advertising banner, it is because they are active links. I am afraid that I do not know any way around this.

Yup  Andy has put clearly what I was trying to say several posts ago.   I'd made the connection between the sponsor banner reloading and the click etc but not being terribly IT literate, hadn't entirely understood why.   Presumably one way out of this (maybe not acceptable to sponsors) would be to set the front page up so that the sponsor banner only changes when the entire page is refreshed either using the refresh button or by leaving and returning to the front page.

But it's only on the front page, as soon as you leave it, it should stop.

Hi Martin,
It does stop when you leave the front page but if you leave the front page up and then switch to, say, Windows Mail you can continue to hear it clicking as each advert loads.    :o

Yes it does do that Martin.   I suspect that the thing is that other people, like me, keep the forum front page open but minimised while doing other things on the computer, checking every so often if anything new has been posted.   In that case it sits on the task bar but ticking away merrily all the time.

It's not the end of the world mate.   It's a minor irritant comapred with the pleasures to be had from being part of mayhem.

Cheers
