H Jonathan,

I'm not familiar with all the designations of Futaba, but what really matters is the frequency range/band. If your equipment is 35Mhz then yes it is just for aeroplanes and you will have to buy new equipment.

Both 40Mhz and 27MHz can be used for surface models (land and sea). The newer 2.4Ghz equipment can be used for both surface and air but won't work with submarines.

Hi Johnathan, you will need new gear, either 40mhz, 27mhz or 2.4ghz, as your set is 72mhz and not legal in the UK.

Sadly this is true for boats, 'planes and ground vehicles.

http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/6nfk-6npk-manual.pdf

confirms the frequency bands available for this set.
