plan built Shamrock
« on: November 01, 2009, 05:27:43 pm »

here are a couple of pics of my latest build - Police Launch Shamrock - built from a plan

Laugh for the electrical lads - spent most of the day constructing a police siren from a circuit obtained off the web - supposed to assimilate a police car siren - to fit in the model.   Utilising 2 - 555 ICs - ever heard a cat been strangled  :embarrassed: :embarrassed: wife spent all afternoon looking for cat under shed - think I will give up with that circuit idea and just concentrate on the flashing lights (for the model of course  :-)) )

The Shamrock plans were drawn by ACTion Man Dave Milbourn and are available from the MyHobbyStore (Model Boats) plans range.

I am very lucky to have a Dave Milbourne original Shamrock that is great fun so don't think the Model Slipway one for being too small.

It's about 28" long and to no particular scale, as it's not a true scale model. The full-size vessel which inspired it is 16M, so if you're looking for scale figures to suit then some about 1/24 scale would do nicely.

if you want to build  bigger one buy the plans and go to your nearest printer and get enlarged, I can never find plans the size I want so am always getting them enlarged or reduced, you just have to watch out when it comes to cut out slotting two parts together and make allowances.
