Utility boat ""CHAMPION"
« on: October 22, 2009, 01:10:12 am »

This model is loosely based on a 1913 Puget Sound WA. utility boat. The full size vessel was 40'X12' and was powered by a single cylinder 16hp gasoline engine. My model is 41"X12 1/2" and is 1/12 scale. The hull was made using aircraft ply frames covered w/ balsa planking, then glassed. The deck is basswood planked as is the pilothouse. Power is a Johnson 12v motor and a Vantec speed control. fittings came from the parts box/scratchbuilt, or from the dollhouse shops. She runs very well and answers the helm at all speeds.

Very nice job! I've been building a (roughly) similar work boat, and you've provided some inspiration (read: ideas I can steal!).

Cheers,
