Sequel to 1918 mutiny.
« on: November 13, 2009, 10:37:55 am »

Idly browsing through Janes (as you do) while looking for snooker cues on destroyers, I came across the entry for the Zahringen (Ex-Battleship 1901) being converted to a radio controlled target ship in 1934. She had a displacement of 11,800 tons, so the servos would have had to be quite big.

Then I saw it..........

She had a complement of 104............................?

Shurely Shome Mishtake!

Oh come on chaps...promise me you'll try harder. The answer is obvious...each crewman was a robot.    %)

I assumed that it was a more technical version of being keel-hauled.

Being the target for the odd 15" could concentrate the mind wonderfully well.
