Sussex Model Centre, Worthing.

This morning at 0905hrs I ordered a kit from SMC, they didn't have one in stock, but the guy on the fone promised me he'd get me one in by this afternoon. At 2005hrs tonight a courier knocked on my door with the kit in his hands...now, is that amazing service or is that amazing service?

I'm shocked and stunned...and very grateful to SMC. Top marks to them... :-))

I am sorry to have to say this, but as far as I am concerned SMC is a wast of time, every time I have been into the shop and asked for parts for a boat, I get it is out of stock, do not carry it any more, no call for it, sorry but as it a small order it is not worth ordering it >>:-(. Now if I was after a car, Plane or a Heli then I am in the right place, as that is all they want to do is sell you one or the other of these things.

I guess for a boat modeller, places like the model dockyard take some beating. Ship and boat modelling has a much smaller userbase than cars and aircraft, so you can't blame model shops setting their sights on those markets.

All the same, I always think it's good pr for amodel shop to take the time to order in a part or two, especially if you're a regular customer. One shop that always gets the thumbs up from me is 308 hobbies in Holloway Rd (used to Henry J Nicholls years ago).

Although like most model shops, they are geared towards the car and aircraft market, they carry quite a few boat bits, and are happy to order in bits and bobs so long as they are catalogued.

It wasn't a boat kit I'd ordered...I use Cornwall Model Boats for things nautical, they've been brilliant.

Westbourne Model Centre offer excellent service too. Most of the time when I've ordered stuff, even late in the afternoon it's been with me next morning! Not been able to fault them so far, helpful too, Dave. :-))http://www.westbourne-model.co.uk/
