New microbat hydro from Minicatracing
« on: April 23, 2008, 09:59:36 am »

Hi we recently got a small minihydro called the microbat (we as in my 11 yr old son and me) from a company in the States called minicatracing it runs on a small brushless motor. The boat measures 380mm long ,200mm wide 80 mm high,it has a 30 amp esc and power is a brushless 2600 kv motor running off an 11.1v lipo,it has one servo for the rudder  and the esc is water cooled. The hardware is all alluminium in blue anodised finnish and it has a nylon prop 32 mm plus 3 extra ones of diff pitches not sure what pitch they are off hand. When we first tested it silly me plugged things up wrong to test things  ::).I also fried the mini servo so in the video it has a normal size servo which is a little too heavy so ill replace it for another mini and pick up even more speed. That will teach me to rush things  ::).No problem a quick email to explain my mistake and they sent a replacement which was a pleasant surprise as it was my stupid fault,we tested it again yesterday and all i can say is it now runs even better so seems obvious the faulty esc was to blame for the lack of speed the last time and even though it was quite quick its now ballistic maybe 30+ mph, apparemtly its capable of 40 mph once trimmed right.Heres a short video of the very first run that was short lived ,ill try and get another video of her next time out, shes almost twice as quick now  O0.All in all its a great little boat and its very fast indeed,it handles a little ripple and some wind but you need to be carefull going into the wind at speed as it can flip ,it will also pull wheelies if you give it full throttle from standstill which is quite fun  {-).

Heres a vid from the other day ,boat ran fast but a bit flighty i think too back heavy due to the servo been too heavy so ill get a mini one and hopefully that will sort it out.My lad was too scared to run it because of the wind, she flipped coming into it not big surprize .
