Battery Connector Question
« on: December 05, 2009, 02:48:03 pm »

I bought a new 6V lead acid battery for my model boat. Then later i realised that the connector from the ESC was a tamiya plug, so this cannot connect into the two (possitive and negative) ports on the battery. I looked around the net to see if there was a cable which had a tamiya socket on one end and two spade connectors on the other but i couldn't find one. Could anyone give me any advice on how to overcome this problem or is it easier to buy a NiMH power pack which already has the connect tamiya socket?
cheers

I think that the easiest way is to get a Tamiya plug with leads already attached (eBay? or your local model shop) and then get a couple of the appropriate size connectors from Halfords (or any car accessory shop) clamp them on securely and away you go.  :-))

You have a couple of options, one is as you say, buy a battery with connector already fitted.

The cheaper option seeing as you already have a battery is to cut off the tamiya connection and replace with an alternate pair - one on battery, one on cable.
Use a couple of banana plus/sockets, if you have any around, just make sure they have the load cpacity you need.

I'm with Derek. Did exactly as he suggests years ago, no problems since (apart from leaving the lead on the shelf when I went to the pond  :embarrassed: )
