When I was a teenager I used to go to Elland Road one week, and Hillsborough the other.
The Owls were my local club and Leeds the glamour club.BB was indeed one of the best players that I saw, and that included some great players like George Best,Jimmy Greaves, Derek Dougan
Gordon Banks,Bobby Moore,Chopper Harris, both Charlton brothers, Dennis Law,Toshack,Emlyn Hughes, Kevin Keegan et al.
What wages could that list of players command in today's over paid premier league. Not many liked that Leeds team of the seventies, but they were good to watch and had some very skillful players.
Most defenders of that era would not last a minute in today's football with all the diving and cheating that goes on, but I know what I prefer to watch, and its not the football that is on display today. Most of the after match talk is not about the games, but about who managed to con the ref by diving or dropping like a stone when someone brushes past.At least I can say that I
saw football at its best, if I start thinking of the players that played in the 66 ,70and 74 world cups then I really start drooling.Pass me the tablets and the rose tinted glasses.Thats better, blood pressure going down.
Rant over.
