Proof at last Turborix 2.4ghz
« on: December 08, 2009, 01:50:55 am »

I posted the Question about cheap 2.4ghz sets and their use in power boats. Well I bit the bullet and bought a Turborix 6ch 2.4 from R2 hobbies, after much research and advice from replies to my question.
Along with their usual brilliant service the set is spot on, decent quality feel about it and the twin arial set up with 12" of wire between main and satelite reciever, and a 6" antenner on each means no problem getting most or best part of it above water line somewhere in your boat
As for range:  our lake is about 200mtr long and no probs.
As for power boats:  Zen powered Outerlimits XXX with 4ft rooster still no probs.

Well it might be first impressions but I'm well chuffed. £36 inc delivery I think its the one to go for if your after a budget set of gear.  It was first outing with it today so if any probelms crop up I'll let you guys know, but fingers crossed it could be a winner....................

Are channels 5 and 6 operated with the two rotary knobs on the front of the Tx or the switches on the top? If it's the former then this represents real VFM, as proportional channels are of far more use in a scale boat than just bang-bang switched ones.

I've dealt with R2 hobbies for about two years and delivery is usually 2weeks. but this time of year can be a bit longer.  I've ordered some servos from them 3 days ago and had three emails so far, 1 to say order confirmed, 2 order packed, 3 order dispatched. you dont get that service from many U.K company's
Just beware EURGLE servos do not work with this set, Futaba, Acoms and Hi Tech seem ok But I have some waterproof EURGLE ones and its a no go lads.
I'm only using chanel 1 and 3 for throttle and rudder but the top switch on the left is a handy thottle cut off ideal for bringing fast boats in.
The software disc included didn't work but its easy enough to find on the net and the program itself is a doddle to use for our type of use ie reversing servos etc.
Like I said I've only had one day out with it but I'm impressed, Why pay silly money for something with a well known brand name, some said to me and I agree, 30 years ago no-one would touch that Japaneese Futaba stuff with a barge pole.
Make sure you order a mode 2 model unless you prefer mode 1....................

Don't want to be a member of the flat earth society or the sky is falling BUT......
with an RF output of less than 0.8W thats 800mw in other money as stated on specifications table on R2 Hobbies website this is implying its more that 100mW. Thats flat out ILEGAL for use in this country  <*< As we are limited to 100mW in the UK so that mens no CE certification either.....

So I would have big concerns with its use for lots of reasons, no insurance as you are using a non approved radio transmitter for a start....

I can't get the links to Pages 5-9 or 10-19 to load. Can anyone supply the answer to my earlier question, please?

Hi  Dave

On my Turborix CH 5 and 6 are individually assignable to a rotary pot or to a switch

Cheers
