On the Antwerp Ring, it is mostly 100kms ph. Including the Kennedy Tunnel. There are large signs telling you so. Except at certain times it is lowered to 70. Then a small sign illuminates over the last 3 lanes( there are 7 in all) In bright sunlight almost invisible and if you are concentrating on what the 18 wheeler alongside you is going to do, you do not tend to look up! They make serious money out of that trick!

Pardon my ignorance, but what does the diagonal black line sign mean? We don't use them on this side of the pond.

Thanks. Now I can see where the cops would do something like that.

In Australia they were officially known as "de-restriction signs", in other words, the speed limit reverts to the state limit of 100kph, or 60mph, as it used to be. They were a common sight once but have nearly all gone now, replaced by specific signs of the posted limit for the particular section of road they apply to.

that speed limit only applies for vehicles less than 3.5 tonnes gross weight ! otherwise the limits are approx 10 mph slower !
