Help, can sonmebody identify this yacht please.
« on: December 11, 2009, 04:32:47 PM »

hi,i apoligise if this is in the wrong place, this is my first post on thisforum, my boss has this model yacht sitting around our workshop and he knows nothing about it. so weve joined this forum hopfuly to get moreknowlageable on it.

remember were complete beginners so explain any terms please.

it measures 5ft9 in length,
it has no damage i can see of, although most ropes are missing, and sails arent present. needs a good clean, its got the rudder there but no radio equipment inside.

realy im trying to find out if theres anything special about it, maybe its value roughly, whats missing?

realy this to me looks abit on the large side for my local pool.

thankyou very much.

Haven't a clue but it looks rather strange with, what I would assume are, two masts and pointy bits at both ends {:-{.  If I was honest I would say it looks like a rather amateurish design and not based on any recognisable class of model {:-{ :((.  I thought if it was reconisable someone would have come up with an answer before now :-)).

Hello,

At 5 foot 9 inches long, I would hazard a guess that it "WAS" a Vane steered 'A Class' Yacht and is quite old !!.
If the Hull is fibre glass its not very old, but if its planked it could be.

Have a look inside the hull, to see if there are any supports for where the original Mast was placed, possibly where the fore mast is now.
Old 'A Class' boats are getting rather scarce now, most of them have been converted into Schooners - - as this one nearly has !!.

Looks a bit like an old "A" class modifided to a staysail schooner with a Gully-Wumper fore sail ((Large Loose footed trapozide sail using a headline between the masts instead of a gaff)

This looks like a typical case of somebody joining up with the sole purpose of finding how much cash that they can get for something.
Before we go down the road of long discussions, leading to the old question "How much is it worth?"

If you don't know what it is, put it on ebay with a picture.
Just see what people will give you for it.
Anything based on a guess is likely to lead to misrepresentation.
