Not 100% sure, but think the specials have reversing or neutral switchgear on the brushes end.

I think Bob is right. I don't have any Milliperms but I have three varieties of Monoperm; Standard, Special (with reversing switch) and Super Special which is the uprated Monoperm, again with switchgear. There are other threads on this site which will give you more info if you do a search on "Monoperm" which is the most commonly used Marx motor, including a link to the technical data here http://www.hmbc.nl/engframe.html and also here: http://www.eaelec.com/tips3.htm

I've never owned a Milliperm, but I always thought the Specials had a different winding, to give slightly more power & higher current draw.

Kayem, I think the designation "Super" applied to the uprated versions. The reference material applies this to the Monoperms but not the Milliperms. There's a sort of logic to it.

Anyway, I thought that a milliperm was something with hundreds of legs that can run like hell and frighten you half to death!  :D
