Stena Sealink HSS fast catamaran ferry.
« on: March 07, 2010, 03:45:49 pm »

Last year I travelled across to Ireland on the Sealink HSS fast ferry. I thought that a model of it might be a little different from the more usual models  and commenced building. After a delay due to being out of the country after Christmas for a while ( cruising through the Panama canal !)  I finished it (well almost - still some detailing to be done) this week and it had its maiden voyage today.

Built out of light ply with the hulls clad in GRP and powered by two Graupner water jets driven by Graupner 700 turbo motors from a 6 volt lead acid battery. Speed control and steering mixing handled by an Action P90 unit. The performance is very satisfatory.

Yes it will be at Wicksteed  and of course you can have a go with it.  At least it hasn't got props for you to tangle up with ropes like you did to my tug at Llanberis  :}
