It's looking good now Richard, reckon you are about 3 months in front of me  :-)

Was there a problem with the mast that I should know about?

Not really Alan, its just trying to decipher the drawings that's the problem.

You have to watch those aerials on the masts or they have you eye out ;)

Since my last posting I have been doing bits and pieces, such as cleaning up the white metal fittings, though they dont need much doing to them there are a lot of them.

I've finished of the mast and booms except for the ropes that I will put on after painting.

Then there was the handrails oohhhhhhhhhhhh yes the handrails. I have decided that Model Slipways advice about doing them in short lengths was right, this is a lot less difficult. You will notice I didn't say easy.

If you are doing this kit then dont be fooled into believing that the three horizontal rails are all the same length, they are not as the stanchions lean in slightly, this is why it is easier to work in short lengths, especially around the starboard hatch.

Then there are the railings around the centre hatch. These are two rail on three sides and soldered, why does everyone else make it look so easy ?

A small point, if you look at the actual Maggie M. photos you will see that where the hydraulic ram is for the side hatch there is no bottom rail in that section. Will have to cut mine out tomorrow. >>:-(

On the whole not getting on to badly at the moment.

The arms for the crew members that were missing have been replaced by MS so the crew are no longer armless, now they are dangerous.
I'll go now.

Have finished the handrails and have carried on with the white metal fitting that I am fixing before spraying.

I have made all the winches etc which I will paint before fitting.

I am just about ready for some more spraying now, which will take a bit of time because of the fumes.

Hi Richard,

She's looking good my friend, keep up the good work! Are you likely to go to the Lifeboat 'do' again this year? Might find five minutes to speak to you if you are, as long as I'm not highjacked by Mac and Ralph!!! %) :embarrassed: ;)

Today I have first off to thank two people.
First is Jackie of Modelslipway who has helped me out on a few occasions when there was something I could not figure out and has always been cheerful and very efficient in solving my problems, a thoroughly nice lady.

Then there is our ACTion man, Dave who's breakfast I disturbed yesterday by ringing him to place an order at 8.58am. Sorry Dave thought it was later than it was, some of us get up at 6.00am you know. Anyway even though I was a pain the goods I ordered still arrived this morning, thanks.

Anyway today has been a painting day apart from making the trawl boards, so I am suffering with the breathing a bit.
I now have most of the boat under one coat of paint and parts of it are finished.

I still have a lot of fittings to fix and a lot of detail painting to do.

When I started this kit I thought it would not take long, wrong, there is more to this one than meets the eye.

Not a lot to add really.

I have been painting and fixing fittings, which seem to be taking for ever.

Not to worry though I have nothing else to do.

Looking very good, are you going to 'weather' her? Fancy one of these after finishing Our Lass 2, shame they're not on same scale. A 1:24 Maggie M would be impressive on water but maybe bit heavy to carry, would dread to think how much ballast she'd need!! Dave. :-))

Hello Richard

You can be sure that I’m very glad to be on your forum.
Before going more in my erection, I need you about the RC instalation.
Which kind of battery will you use ? 6 or 12 V ? Where will you install it ?
I would like install more functions, like floodlights, navigation lights and more if possible. Will you make the same things ?
Have you un drawing or some pictures ?
Thank’ for your help.
Congratulations
Patrick

Hi Patrick I am going to use a 6V  14aH SLA battery mounted across the boat in front of the motor.

My electrics which I haven't done yet will be under the rear hatch.

I am not having working lights as I shan't be sailing at night.

By the way you might want to change the word "erection" to "construction".

When I have done the electrics I will take a photo of them.

Thank's for your help, Richard, and thank's for "construction".
What's the size of your battery. I have a 12 v. The size is 64 mmx150 mmx100mm, and I think that it is too big. What is your opinion ?
