Wicksteed & Mayhem AWARDS 2010
« on: May 31, 2010, 02:17:45 pm »

Yawn......... is it tomorrow already!?!?

  Mayhem 2010 awards.

Chief Information officer:     DickyD.
For continued patronage, prolific posting and one of Mayhem's fastest model boat builders!  :-))

Masterclass award:     Bluebird.
For showing us how it's actually done and making the complicated sound simple.

           (PM you Address please John.)

My Favourite Topic: TonyH   for Fat pointy thing! - Arquebuse class French destroyer

http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=17389.msg173389#msg173389
..... and also putting on a live demonstration over the Wicksteed weekend ... by ramming (now infamous) roaming lighthouse!

The Over Optamistic Award: (aka: burst steam pipe award!)  Flashtwo

For his " winter's secret project...not only flash steam powered, but also jet propelled ... the gas cylinder is inverted
and the liquid butane/propane mix passes through a manually operated isolation valve and then a servo-controlled valve.
The fuel then passes along a 400mm length of copper pipe before entering a fuel pre-heater that is heated by the exhaust
gases of the boiler, i.e. NO direct heating by a flame is involved. The boat also has a novel form of directional control which
many will find interesting. Effectively it is a boat with no propeller nor rudder!

Notice the almost total lack of bow wave!

Best Sea Queen Award:  Dennis Hubble

Weathering.... Best/Over weathering Award!  Dave Mears  for his Model Slipway; Maggie M

Wicksteed helpfulness award:
    Four winners this year are;
  Nigel ("I'll  get that sorted!"),
  SteamboatPhil (of course!),
  Bradders (outstanding badgering),
  Kirk
(usually "the stroppy monk!"  but not this weekend!  )  :-))

And in the this day-n-age of diversity, inclusiveness, abilities and aspirations and other PC cobblers.........
Awards also to all you Mayhemers that have posted on here throughout the year.  :-))

 Yours sincerely,
 Martin - Admin   :-)

Thankyou Martin, I ignored the suggestions on where to put it and it has pride of place on the mantlepiece.  :-))

Cheers Martin!

Any chance of a steering course on the BIG lake next year - might suit the turning circle a bit more.

Just to put some names to the faces of the two Wicksteed Park Model Boat club winners,

The owner and builder of the Sea Queen is Dennis Hubble and with the Maggie M is Dave Mears again the owner and builder.

Well done to both of them!
