Freeware CAD
« on: December 08, 2006, 04:04:05 pm »

Hi All,

I have found a reasonable Freeware 2D CAD package - better than Autosketch IMHO, closer to ACAD LT, though the layer structuring is different (not as good IMHO).

www.free2design.org

Best of all it is my favourite price

Ditto that, can't resist new toys especially the free ones. Hope this one is not to complicated for my fading grey cells

best regards and Merry Xmas

MikeK

PS just tried to install it and got a message box telling me there was a 'TD Failure' during installation and it won't run, just comes up with same message. None the wiser but if anyone else gets the same message then at least you know you are not alone !!
Ah well, nowts free as they say  ;D ;D

Thanks for the info Keith, I had a feeling it might be my machine. Waiting for the wet & miserable days to pluck up courage and format the beast and hopefully get it to toe the line again
Cheers

Glad it is proving useful  - I think I am starting to get to grips with it. Mopre use than Autosketch - in someways I'm finding it easier than ACAD-2006LT (I use this at work).

Here is part of a learning exercise - part of a plan to get a set of layout parts for doing designs. Not toally to scale but close enough for the relative measurements of arm heigt to mounting hols and outline. The PDF is not to scale, but the output from the laser is bob-on, so I can produce patterns for parts.

I think it is a good investment of beer vouchers ;D
