Just finished this, its the Hellcat from the free plan in June 2008 Model Boats, made mostly from balsa with some plasticard and a lot of poetic licence. It’s fitted with a brushless motor 1400Kv 350 watt, on the first trial before it was finished it had 8 cells and a X45 prop, but the boat nearly left the water  :o  so now it has 6 cells 7.2  3300 mAh and a X35 prop, 30a ESC weight about 2lb 4oz  and is controllable, not for the faint hearted though.
Three clicks on the rudder stick gives it about scale speed, then whoosh, the need for speed   :-))

your boat looks nice, Yep they are a nice little cheap motor that work well on 7.2v I put two in a deans fire boat about the same size as yours and it was a bit to fast it ran on its decks in corners etc

AlanP,
Nice looking model but you are clearly braver than me!   With a good 500 and six cells the prototype proved to be more than fast enough for my reactions.

I love mine, it's fatastic. Mines on 7.2v on a hot 540 motor, but I lightened the hull throughout so it literally takes off on the straight bits. Have had to fit turnfins to the transom to keep it in the water in the turns, which is another thing, it can only go left  O0 :-))
