36" upwards bit tight at 36" but depends on the hull a big open boat no problem prob push up to 60" plus at a push a lot depends on instillation type of  boat etc a long narrow boat could be bigger.what had you in mind ?

That's an impressive looking plant.

Looking at the engine, I bet it has some weight to it; I'd be lining up a nice big tug if it were mine  :-))

I am impressed with any steam engine and would love to build one and a boat to put it in.
I have the plans for a Brooklyn Harbour Tug but I would have to scale it up a little to match the other plans I have (1/16) which would make it around 60".
What type of engine puts out the greater power for it's size?

Nothing major....but this plant either has a questionable relief valve setting or an under rated pressure gauge......check out the pressure displayed = full scale deflection on the gauge which is a no no ...approx 75 % of FSD is the nominal max  >>:-( ..apart from that an absolutely beautiful engine :-)).... .Derek
