I have a theory that six month old son also with said cold, sorry flu, and no sleep for last four nights may have something to do with it- that's what i'm sticking to anyway!

It's only since I retired that I found out what a bunch of softies you shore wallah's really are... A runny nose and a bit of a headache and you get a day or two off work... I've seen men allmost crawl on the bridge or down the engine room or on deck to stand their watches coughing their lungs up so they don't let their shipmates down and they won't go below no matter what you tell them... And before some one says they are infecting the rest of the crew ---that won't wash because on a small ship when one person gets a cold every one gets it. ---But in 54 years at sea I have never heard of a ship not sailing because half the crew had the flu

Actually mate, when on board i've worked through throwing up, bad burns, being soaked to the bone and heat so hot you can quite litterally not wee all day despit drinking about 1litre every hour and half.

But i'm not onboard, so why would I?

Huh, thats nuffin, last time I had man flu I had to get up from my deathbed to get a drink as my wife had to nip out. She had gone to get me some kind of manflu remedy from the witches caquldron in the village. She didn't come straight home as she rather inconsiderately decided to squander some money on  groceries from the supermarket. I soon put her straight when she got back... no messin! <*<

Mercy sakes alive!
Obviously, I was aware that you had a pending hospital appointment, and I knew you had some grotty cancer problems to take care of, but I didn't realise that it involved all that brachytherapy malarkey.
In comparison to flu, I don't think any of us has anything to whinge about.

Fingers are well and truly crossed for you, Dave.
I hope it all goes well on Friday.
Hope to see you back here by Monday.
Good luck to your good lady, and all.

Suddenly all my aches, pains & complaints seem to have been in very clear perspective.

All the best Dave, let me know if you need to borrow any very soft cushions....

You are most  welcome, dude. There was a big hole in the Forum which needed refilling.  8)
Thanks to everyone else for your good wishes - and don't go ordering from anywhere else while I'm not looking!

My thoughts are with you Dave. ( and indeed everyone else here is thinking of you )  What an informative site you've shown us. A picture is worth a thousand words.

This puts the 'Man flue' into perspective. We had no idea. We do wish you well.

Don't worry about the business, as it will look after itself. We aren't going anywhere else, as we've got the best already  :-))

All the best

Ken
