Hi, been to this show a few times now, but always wondered if general public can get on the water, it always seems a bit of an attending club thing. Can none club members sail, if so, what is the protocol for this?

Thanks

Hi Red

Anybody can sail at the Convention providing they abide by the rules in the programme.  [All those sailing a boat must first have registered with the frequency controller down by the lake even if they are sailing on 2.4 ghz and must be legitimate visitors to the Convention.  Fast electrics can only sail at the allocated times see Programme of Events. All free sailing must cease while any Club or individual are on the water giving a demonstration.]

There are two shows in the locality on the same day. This one has the nicer venue but it's a bit small for everyone who might want to have a stand. Model Slipway, along with MMM, Model Power, SHG, Models by Design, ourselves and others will be at the other venue. They're only about a mile apart, I gather.

Richard

There is an unwritten rule on the Forum not to "mix" publicity for these two shows as there has been some considerable acrimony between the various factions in the past. Thankfully this appears to have abated and I have no wish to stir it up again. Life's too short as it is - and "everybody gotta be somewhere" (as Eccles once said).

In answer to your question then, the details of this show are as per Long Build's initial posting at the top of the thread. It also has its own website which I imagine will give more details.

Details of the location of the other show can be found, for example,  by going to our own website (ACTion) and clicking on "Dates". If you want further information then have a look at the various websites of the other traders who make up the forum membership.

Thanks Dave,
                  I thought it odd that so many regulars were missing from the list.I have never been to this event since it became 2-in-1 shows,so find it all a bit confusing.However I will be attending this year,and I will have a responsible adult to escort me,as you can see how puddled I get.I will be attending on the Saturday.Really looking forward to it.
                                                                                                                                                                                See you there,
                                                                                                                                                                                 Cheers Andy

Oh Well, 3 out of 4 years with brilliant weather can't be to bad.. But Despite the Showers the show has been well attended today  and with superb displays put on by all the clubs and individuals and not to mention the range of Items for sale by the various traders in attendance insured that this weekend will be another success.  :-)) :-))

Some good sailing was had in and between the showers as some of the pictures below show, some taken before the show opened as I knew it would be hard to get clear shots later in the day.

Looking forward to Sunday and hope we get a bit more of  the Sun the weather man reported. :}
