Hi, just acquired a revell s-boat and was wondering if anyone else has done one, if you have any pics, and if the kit props are sufficient enough to drive it, as someone told me before that in kits static props wont drive properly in the water, which would kinda' make sense as tamiya used to give both static props and running props.

not to fussed about the speed of it or how it planes just so long as it goes, as i wont use it too often as im more of a battleship guy to be honest, and itll be a bit of a test bed for weathering as wethering this will be different to weathering my sub, so i thought id use it to try out different techniques etc.

as usual any help is much appreciated :)

I used two Expo motors wired in series and the kit props. If I do a second one I would change the props, just as much water is pushed out the side as out the back of them. This makes the boat a bit unstable.

You'll find some info on SubPirates under the Target Forum as well as RC Groups.  I've been toying with Airfix E-Boat conversion & have the Revell kit along with needed parts sitting around for a future 3 prop conversion.  A friend on SP was kind enough to forward the 13mm props which came from Classic Warships.  For the Airfix, its a single drive that was built using the motor & prop set up from $3 Chinese submarine model.  I'll be glad to post some photos later this week.

i think ill stick to the kit props for now, and maybe change them later on if it is unbearably bad.

Here it is all painted, not too bad for about 4 days work , finished it monday evening, now got to sort out electrics

Looks great mate but when side by side with the sub the s boat looks a bit light on the weathering, mind you it does look good...

yeah, i just figured that the s boat wouldnt have been out for as long a period of time as the sub so the rust would be patched up in port and wouldnt have a chance to get as bad as the sub.

It was good to see you back at the Black Park Lake today as with all your models another well turned out ship, He looked good on the bench can't wait to see Him on the water,Having seen yours I'm now tempted to get one myself £13 not a bad price.
