Both are pretty good. Sheerline boats are realativly quickly to get into the water and require little building (except for the Type II). Engel subs are true kits, which need building/ bonding with resin to make water tight etc. Plenty of opportunity of leaks if your not thorough as the WTC is pressuised by the piston tanks. Even their most basic kit will require some previous modeling experience. And they do cost rather more, but do look rather nice and perform well. They have different different diving systems, each have their attributes. I'd go with a Sheeline Akula if its your first sub and you want to 'test the water'.

Sheerline, simple but sturdy subs that look the business in the water, built three now and cannot fault them  :-))

Just ask yourself, which company do you see more of COMPLETED on the water?

Sheerline every time, does exactly what it says on the tin. :-))

I have a Sheerline, TypeVII U-boat for over 7 years.
Works well on water, however takes a little bit of setting up.

The key point is if you have any problems Chris is most helpful.

Bill, it may be a bit too small, but have you seen this?  http://www.deansmarine.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/26_33/products_id/549 It's a bit expensive IMHO (hope Mr Dean doesn't see this...) but it's a nice compact size, and with a bit of work, would make into quite a nice boat.

Rich

(Perhaps Mr Dean may donate me one to test and review... %))
