E-MAIL FROM MODEL BOATS MAGAZINE
« on: December 11, 2006, 02:59:54 pm »

E-mail received from John this morning.

Dear Richard

The Model Boats website is in the process of being redesigned - in fact I attended a meeting recently to finalise the content. It will be much improved on our old site and will include many new features.

The redirection to Global Gold will disappear shortly and there will be a holding page until we get the new site running.

We are now owned by a company called Magicalia who are on-line publishers. If you want to get some idea of the quality and content of their websites then please take a look at www.magicalia.com. The new Model Boats site will be very similar.

The website was one of the many items to suffer under the demise of our previous owners. Our new company, Magicalia Publishing Ltd is striving to bring everything back to normal and to develop our services, so we ask people to be patient for a few more weeks.

Regards
John Cundell

Does anyone know what the situation is with the MB plans list following the latest takeover? Where are the masters? can copies be ordered? It would appear that the new owners have no knowledge or experience of model making whether boats or aircraft so is the future of the plans safe?

In another thread I mentioned I was having difficulty getting a plan from "Model Boats". However, I had an Email from them saying they would post to France and so I gave them my order and made a card payment.

When I hear from them I will put a post in the Forum.

I've found the model plans service to be useless. A couple of weeks ago I emailed them about the availability of an older plan, which they replied was still available and I could pay by credit card over the phone. So I rang them, from Australia, to order it to be told they had just sold the last copy and didn't have any more or a master copy. About as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

No plan in response to my order, as yet. But it could be the Christmas post.

Hi Roy,
I was after MM392 Simplicity by GH Deason. I've since been able to get a copy of one of his books which has it in.
Thanks
Barry.

You all need to give them time to settle down and get things running again .There is too much money to be lost in not operating a plans service so i don't see them chucking it. It must have been in some state when the new governors took over.At least it is still there not down the tube.

I have ordered and received plans from Encanta. It took about two weeks and there was a letter apologising for the delay and stating that they were trying to catch up with back orders from the previous owner. This was back in the summer.

Having previously ordered plans elsewhere which took over a month to arrive I was quite pleased.

Hang in there Roger.

Seasons greetings etc to one and all.
