« on: December 11, 2006, 03:38:39 pm »

a simple question, i have a Futaba T6EXA for my model aircraft but would love to save money and use it for my boats too. Can i simply buy 40 mhz crystals and use my  Futaba T6EXA ?

Thanks in advance John

Unfortunetly no, this question has cropped up before and 40mhz FM xtals won't work in anything other than a 40mhz FM set. Alas you need to buy another set, make sure if the xtals are AM the set is too, that goes for FM xtals.

No.
You will need to replace the modulator card in the transmitter ( I have heard that this is possible with Futaba) and buy a new receiver.
Far cheaper to just get a complete new set complete with the appropriate crystals.

You can buy sets from both Futaba and Hitec that have interchangeable RF modules so that you can use it for 35Mhz and 40Mhz. Not sure of the model numbers, but Westbourne will no doubt be able to help!
