Speaking as an outsider, and one who's not likely to be attending (it's a bit too far for me to go for the weekend  :-) ), the logic "I drive a car and am not able to gain free entry to a motor show" is rather flawed, as I presume the car you would use to get to the motor show would not be a part of the show. On the other hand, if someone brings a model boat to a show such as Beale Park, then the assumption would be that they would be participating in that show, and therefore should be entitled to receive some concession on their entry fee.

Our club exhibits at a number of shows - not necessarily dedicated model boat shows - and all our members receive free admission as long as we are wearing our club shirts.

The South Wales model Boat show used to pay clubs to attend, I think now its free, but the clubs, boats and traders are the reason we go,  probably half the people wouldn't go if it wasn't for traders, we all go to see our latest addition to the 'wish list', but high entry fees kill the show, the traders have to pay a lot of money for a stand, plus the cost of transport and stock, I know without the stock they do not make profit, but the cost of the stand ,fuel, and accomodation is a real killer, so organisers should be happy that modellers come to the show and recomend he venue to other interested parties, and treat what the traders pay as the profit for the show, I for one don't mind apying a couple of pounds entry, but to pay upwards of £8.00 entry is a high price to pay. Traders need modellers to make it worth while attending the shows.

Hi Guys,
Yes, you're right - it's the old fart again!!
I have today received the official statement from the Administrator of the Beale Park Show. I have replied to it and await some answers - hopefully!
I show it to you in full as I received it.

Beale Park Wildlife Park & Gardens, at Lower Basildon in Berkshire, will be hosting its annual spring model boat show on May 1st & 2nd 2010.

The Child Beale Trust is a non-profit making registered charity and in order to carry on its activities is dependent upon the revenue raised on entrance to the Park, the income generated from events and from donations. Beale Park is happy and pleased to support the model boat fraternity that, in its turn, helps support the Trust in it’s charitable work.

The show will be attended by various traders including: David Brumpstead, Mastman, Propshop, Deans Marine, Hunter Systems, SHG, All Components, Macs Mouldings, Mobile Marines Models, Tony Richardson, John Gittings and MMB.

Clubs that have attended in previous years will receive a letter from the organisers in the coming weeks.

Individuals who wish to exhibit MUST pre-register their attendance and boat details with Graham Shepherd on: 01323 503336 or Ian Hughes on: 01189

Further information is available on the Park’s website: www.bealepark.co.uk or by telephone on: 0844 826 1761

I am not sure what to make of it!

So one has to register ok. What about the £8.50  entrance  fee as that was the question being asked.

Hi Guys,
Old fart again.
Seems that I jumped the gun putting the statement on the Forum. It seems that it was just something to discuss with them without any details.
They will phone me tomorrow to give me the details - hopefully.
So watch this space.

Ok people, listen up! Its the Old fart again.

I have spoken again to the Organisers and have brokered a deal with them for this their 30th year of the show. As in previous years, the Clubs will be invited to the show - they will get to list up-to ten members of their Club who want to attend and exhibit. There will be NO CHARGE to the first ten people on that list. So it will work like this - Get on the list and get a free invite to the first ten people in the Club that will be attending. You will get an acknowledgement from Beale which when presented at the gate will get you a wristband for free entry to the show for the weekend. No wristband - NO free entry.

For the individual exhibitors, you are also getting FREE ENTRY. To get this - you must apply to me. The address is 24 Aspen Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex. BN22 0TG. I am not too clear on how many free tickets I will have, but I think it may be only ten, but it is a start.

I am also told that there will not be any gazebo's available this year unless Richard erects his own two -  so people are advised to take their own. This will be in the Club invites.

I am told that the Show will be advertised in the two model boat magazines, local papers and local radio plus the on-site publicity at the Park.

Also, I have been told, there will be a new caterer offering good selection of decent food at lower prices than before.

Also, FREE camping on the camping field for the entire weekend.

Well that should be all, I hope that I haven't missed anything out or added anything that I shouldn't have.

Just think, sailing your model on a nice lake in a nice park with camping all weekend. And it is all FREE!!! Ok, you will have to spend all of your money with us on the Trade Stands - not everything is free! The traders that will be attending have all shown faith in the Show - so please give them your support.

All we need is some good weather - that's were you come in Mr Dean!! (I am told that you have the contacts).

On a final note - Myself and other concerned people have done our best to revive the show - lets hope it all cracks off on a good note. It would be nice to see the camping field full like it used to be.

If there should be any changes, I will post them here.
Regards to you all.

Many thanks for your efforts on this Graham, I am sure they are much appreciated by everyone.

As you say, I suspect you will get a nominal allocation of ten tickets as they are regarding you as an 'extra club'. However, if demand is greater then I reckon you should be able to negotiate a higher allocation. I assume that the free tickets will apply to the modeller only and not to any accompanying family members.

It seems rather a pity that you have had to go to all this effort on our behalf. It never seemed to be a problem in the old days.

Hi Colin,
You are right regarding ticket allocation - they do not include family members unless - I guess - they too are exhibitors and members of that certain club and are listed by the club for the ticket application - sorry, but it was  that or nothing.
Lets hope it all works out for all concerned.
Best Regards

Well done to Hunter.  I went to the show last year for the first time. I had a great day out. Spent loads of money with the traders and got to sail my boat.  It's a lovely location and I think it is a cracking day out whether you get a free ticket or not.

Deans Marine will be supporting the show as normal, and I hope others will join in and hopefully we can get the  Beale show back to its glory days, it is still the best venue I know of, and where else do we go that the boss is one of us.
To make the show a bit more appealing we have pulled out the stops, at Nurnburg model fair 2010 we displayed 11 new prototypes, we hope the have 3 new releases at the Beale show, plus lost of new parts and bits, all the new Props and shafts,  here are some tasters

Hi All.
It's the young good looking Fart here.
I have had PM's from people who are not sure on how many free tickets are being issued to people or how they will get them on the day. I have actually said in a previous dispatch that the number is ten.
I will therefore go through it again.

The entrance wristbands are for TEN only - not as many as names can be squeezed into the box on the form. %%(the accompanying letter that went out with the form should have stated only ten, I actually put that number on the forum).

Someone has also asked How will they get their wristband from me when I will be inside the Beale Centre setting up the stand/selling?
Easy, I or a deputy will be loitering around the SIDE ENTRANCE GATE issuing wristbands between 8.30am and 9.45 am on Saturday and Sunday. - "Simple" as my munchin says!

Anyone wanting entry/exit etc out of these hours must go to the main entry booths as I have been informed that the gate will be locked. (Health and safety issue)
Hope this makes sense. If there are any changes I will let you know.

Regards

OK, its me again,
Forgot to say that the Beale centre staff are still sending out the invites so don't worry at the moment if you haven't heard. If you or your Club have not got an invite letter/form by 14th April then just PM me and I will sort it out - promise.

the letter sent out from Beale park did not state TEN.......yes i know in the past it was 10 and yes it was mentioned here at 10 -  but when you get the official letter from Belae park asking for names we put names on it- 16 so far !

 - especially as our club  chairman put out a heartfelt request for us a local club to support this event  at our recent club meeting we now have 16 members signed up to come and exhibit !

there is going to be some dissapointed boaters..........

In Case anyone forgets- its up to TEN- its up to TEN-its up to TEN-its up to TEN-its up to TEN- its up to TEN-its up to TEN-its up to TEN-its up to TEN- its up to TEN-its up to TEN-its up to TEN-its up to TEN- its up to TEN-its up to TEN-its up to TEN :police:

i wont bother going- but i wont give the trade my business either ?- i wont buy lunch at the venue ( and boy can i eat )  and i wont take the wife n kids either ? and my gazebo and tables will stay at home....   it does n't make sense to me........

if the show is to be ressurected its a wierd way of going about it ?

i 'll save my money and go to wicksteed, the kids can play there instead and we all have lunch at that venue........... look like that show is on the 'up'

Hi Guy
The Problem has, I think been solved. I have had a PM from Dave, your Chairman. We may have resolved the problem, I suggest you speak to him. As for not attending the show, I understand what you are saying but please don't shoot the messanger. I only wish to see this show live again, and I know that you do too.
I am not the organ grinder just the monkey.
if you wish for comments to be put to Richard directely than give me a PM and I will give you his home telephone number.
