Water Level Probes
« on: May 03, 2012, 04:14:08 am »

Looking at building a micro-processor-based water pump control system.

Will a conductive type water level probe work in a model boiler with tap water?  Softened water?  De-ionized water?  Is TSP ok in a model boiler to provide ions?  The big boilers use it for pH control and anti-foaming.

Is a capacitance-based detector system required?  Any idea what the reading range would be?

Thanks,

....softened or distilled water still contain the ions...so I believe they would still function  :-)) in the simple galvanic cell you are contemplating
....deionized water is a no no as it will attack both brass and nobel metals tying to pull the missing ions from the surrounding metals

Both brass and silver soldered joints will suffer.... >>:-(
