Norton hates MBM? Looks like it's mutual, doesn't it? I gave up using it when it sucked up my dollars for a new year's subscription and then refused to update the files.

I found this regarding the backdoor irc bot
Backdoor.IRCBot is a Trojan backdoor that uses the MS06-040 vulnerability to propagate itself throughout a network. Backdoor.IRCBot attempts to connect to IRC through which he would receive commands from a remote host. Then the remote hacker may instruct Backdoor.IRCBot to record all the keystrokes that you type, to launch denial of service attacks, or send spam emails. Backdoor.IRCBot is a serious security risk to your personal and financial data and we recommend its removal immediately.

Got a headache now...

It is fine for me. The new Norton 360 really is very good. I dumped Norton some years ago as it was slow and did have problems, but this new 360 is great. I don't even know it is there..

We're variously cocooned in COMODO, Avast! and Spybot - no adverse signs on any of 'em, and I did a full scan on our PCs yesterday.
Norton should have stuck to motor cycles IMHO.

I use 'Bitdefender' and it does a full scan every morning when I boot up and it has found nothing untoward (I am pleased to say). :-) :-)

I rang Norton and had an interesting conversation with someone who didn't quite understand that I was wanting them to update their site information about MBM. They were very confussed because that topic obviously wasn't on their problem solving flow chart in front of them. End result? Not sure myself? %%
