Hello!
I have been lurking on the site for a little while, and decided it was time to become part of the crew.
In my working life I spent most of my time in the engine room on steam, diesel, diesel-electric, and in the U.S. Coast Guard's "Eagle".
I started static scale modeling with plastic early on, then began scratch building when I couldn't find kits of the type of boats I wanted to build. I put the modeling aside for several years as my interests had changed to full scale antique cars and trucks. Now my interests have gone full circle and I'm pursuing model boats again, only this time on a larger scale, and mostly in the realm of pond yachts, although I've seen a couple of beautiful large scale steam ships I'd love to model as R/C steam or electric.
I am totally new to R/C modeling, but I'm reading a couple of books I ordered from "your side of the pond" and I suspect between them and this site I should get things sorted out sooner or later as I'm very impressed with the knowledge represented here!
