they look like engine room 'blowers'   forceing air into the engine room!

Where is Towboatjoe when you need him ?   Yep dont know , but guess forced air to engineroom.  The large circular object on the funnel could be the outlet , again just a guess.

It looks like the air is sucked in throughthe vent boxes
with the through draught being supplied by exhaust fans
behind the circular grills on the funnels

Well thats my idea !!

Here I am. The boxes behind the stacks are the air intakes for the main engines. The round ones on the stacks are exhaust fans to draw heat out of the engine room. If you want to learn a lot more about these boats visit my site. http://towboatjoe.com

Hi Towboatjoe

Loved the site - gave me a few ideas.

Quick request - would you mind me putting the sounds from the m/v G.L. Furr onto the sounds disk for the P100?

No problem wom, that's why I put them on there.

Tomo, the boat looks great. How did you do your cabin walls?
i'm thinking of experimenting with different techniques.

I've got some models to build for Crounse Corp of their new boats.
Here's one of my favorite models.

Quick question, TowboatJoe,

You suggested that flat out the engine sound was at about 210 RPM. What is the idle speed?

The rpm's I was reffering to was the shaft rpm not the engine rpm. I'm not sure what the engine rpm was since the console gauges didn't show engine rpm. Never thought of going down to the engine control room to check it out.
