Good idea. The asking price seems a bit high. Plans are available from the designer and I`m sure a replica could be made for a fraction of that price.  There was a beauty of a tug (manned) on fleeceUbay for £500.  Manned models arent for the rich only,  in spite of this example in Portsmouth.

Nice pictures. The paddle tug was one of masterpieces by the late Bill Wilkinson.   This one is "Pert" , an admiralty tug I believe and his other was/is "Cracker".   Anybody know where they are now?  Last I heard they were in the care of a relation.   (orrected 21.48hrs.)

On reading over the description of the Cornwallis,i noted this

"The model is not intended to be kept afloat for long periods of time but to be recovered after each operating period on to its own purpose designed road trailer and returned home to be washed down. For this reason, the materials used are not necessarily of a marine specification."

For £7,500 ono,i would expect more than this,..who in their right mind would build a boat and "Not use"materials that were not up to the purpose they were intended for ,as for,not long periods,...its a lot of dosh to fork out, just to have it in the water for an hour or so,

That Tank looks familiar,I saw one just like it at Blackpool in 2008,the builder only had the use of one arm,..he was located near to the door leading to the bring/buy/swap bit, just behind the pool,

Pity they didnt make it to float, it would have been a great sight at sea.  Film companies would have been interested.

I'm not quite sure where I'd keep one yet, but one the theme of 'big stuff' (though not quite as big as the ones here), anyone know where I could obtain 1/144th scale drawings of a Nimitz class carrier? As usual I'll ask first and think about the logistics of such a thing later...  O0
