Biggest Tug?
« on: April 24, 2006, 09:13:52 am »

What is the biggest MODEL tug anyone has actually seen in real life?
I can remember seeing some big tugs in the model boat magazines over the years where someone can actually sit inside but never seen one.The biggest tug I've actually seen? was at a Dean's Marine open day 2 years ago.... an incomplete one on the back of a car trailer....... :o

Martin

PS. Can anyone find any articles on big tugs in their dusty magazine collection?

why would you bild a thing that size

If you need to ask that question then you don't understand big boat builders ;D ;D ;D ( see my Mersey on Mayhem main site !!  8) )

It's like when they ask "why did you climb that mountain???............... Because it's there!!!!!!!"  ;)

Poor old bill passed away last year, he could have used the 25 ft one he built in the house, it was so long the stern had to go in the toilet with the door open, so to use the toilet you had to leave the door open ::) ::), when they came to get the model out of the house they had to take out the window first. bill is the one holding the white poly cup in the last photo. ron h

If anyone is in the area, the smaller  ??? of Bill's paddle tugs, "Pert", which he also sailed from inside, usually puts in an appreance at the Model Lifeboat Rally at Southport and is well worth a coat of looking at.

Ref Biiggest Tug       I joind the Mayhem Forum five minits ago to my surprise the first picture i find is my tug moorcock.  so here are some details .  she is built in steel  and  riveted together scale is 1/inch to 1/foot.  Since the photo progress has been slow [a bitt like my key borde skills] but we know have most the supperstructure fitted, allso sundrie bitts and pieces,    The trailer know has a small crane for loading unloading fitted.  i dont know completion date but not to long. Anybody sailing big boats of a similar size please let me know where and when

This is a fairly large model of the Maersk Hunter. Photo found on the Ships Nostalgia website.
