I was talking to a model plane builder friend the other day and was discussing my mayflower kit Im building.
I have been having issues with the ply being very dry and brittle. He has been building vintage plane kits for years and has suggested a technique for getting life back into ply.
Soak the ply for a few hours in hot water with a few teaspoons of fabric softner. I gave it a try and it has certainly made a difference, the ply is no longer breaking up when i try to cut it.
Has anyone else used this method before?
