There are problems with "bucket".

If you read old build threads you will invariably find that that photos are missing with some note that the photos have been removed by bucket and that thread then becomes useless. Don't understrand why the photos are gone.

Uploading from my PC is fine.

What is galling and a waste of time is reading a build thread where you constantly have to click on a thumbnail to enlarge it to see it, then go back to the text and then the next and so on.
Instead of just reading the text with photos one after the other.

Those that use the thumbnails make it Time consuming and a waste, I don't bother with them anymore, also you end up with a heap of images you have to close down which are still displayed on your PC

Must be getting old.
Just as a test I have resized the picture below from a 2.5mb photo

Which to me would give me enough info if I wanted to see it closer up or move on.. I just put in the scale of 1050 and it is only 139kb., making it 1075 seems to make no diffrence to the picture on the thread.

as some one who has been finding loading pictures very hard, i like postimage as it is all i can get my old brain to use, tryed the other and lost the plot completely, if this makes me thick then so be it, as a silver surfer i like what i can use without any more hassel

What is happening now Martin? I have posted photos with the attachments(on the 2/11/12 last) but now EVEN WITH NOTHING IN THE BROWSE BOX the post will not go??? .GEOFF

its not photobucket removing or moving the pictures its the original poster thats done that by either deleting them from photo bucket or moving them into another album
just 1 question tho
how long do the photo's stay on mayhem if uploaded to the site ?

wow thats a lot of pictures and space Martin pays for then
most of the sites i frequent ( not other model boat sites ) your lucky if the uploaded pics are still there after 6 months to a year , as they run out of space they then go through old posts deleting the pictures , pictures ive uploaded to photobucket and linked to posts on sites are still there after more than 5 years on

At last someone who understands my reasoning of using Photobucket as the more pics on this site that Mayhem supports means less Bandwidth and costs Martin more money

dont get me wrong i am not against site hosted pics as both ways of showing them are good but we cant expect it to be a bottomless pit and 12 pictures per post is really generous as most sites im on its 4 to 6 pictures and they are smaller as well

Photobucket, Flickr, Imageshack are a LOT more reliable, agreed..... it's just that Postimage , when is working, it's SO much simpler to use!

If only we could find something, anything else just as easy....

i agree martin postimage is the easeyest for novices . all i want is the odd photo to show.

Dave ,
I for one am not disagreeing with what you are saying.

What I am saying is that by not using third party stuff, and as put much better by others, the photos remain in the build threads eg Master class, for all to see whenever.

That surely must be a consideration and no doubt has contributed to Mayhem's uniqueness and undoubted popularity.

Should costs be a concern, and they may well already be as such, it is a separate issue which we should address.

However, there are old posting with photos, which in my opinion can be culled, and indeed the entire thread could be deleted freeing up "Bandwidth" for example have a look at Chit chat.

I use photobucket to host my pics. The reason being is that it makes life easier to post pictures on multiple forums (Fora or is it forii?)

Also its handy if like me you have several computers, saves having to be on the computer the pics are saved on

I think the current way works well enough, but as others have said it does mean that poor martin has to pay for the storage of the photos.

Make them Smaller,

but must be no bigger than 161kb per photo mak per post 12 photos.

Hi Regiment why not try this image resizer and if you resize to the dimensions given by Martin it should upload onto the site

It says it works on all flavours of Windows.

Basically, install it, open Windows Explorer ( or find your photos on your PC / Laptop ) select the ones you want to resize, then Right Click _ Resize Pictures
( NB. Make sure you select Custom Size to 640 7 480 )

2nd photo shows file size difference before - after resizing.
