Interesting!
My HMS Amethyst, bought new from Deans Marine within the past few months, also had parts missing, instructions that did not match the kit and the moulded parts (resin and metal) were not produced to a very high standard - quite poor in fact. The deck templates did not fit the hull properly - one template had to have about 7mm shaved off before it would fit and the transom template was a completely different shape to the hull and deck transom. The painting instructions contradict themselves in various places in the instructions, so I had to make a few educated guesses and took some artistic licence. I had to make up quite a few parts from scrap to finish it off, but there were some parts that I couldn't reproduce, so it's still incomplete, and will remain so, I'm afraid.
That said, after a lot of fiddling and bodging, it's not looking too bad, despite the ongoing patching-up after my disaster with the varnish. I'll post some pics when it's finished.
But the hull is white (well, it was before I painted it)
