IJN AKAGI ww2 Japanese carrier 1/48 17 foot model
« on: March 27, 2010, 12:08:49 am »

Hi guys have just scaled up the AKAGI ww2 Japanese aircraft carrier of Pearl Harbor and Midway sea battles fame in 1/48 scale good old quater inch to the foot scale to go with my other Japanese warships she comes out at 5432mm or 17 feet 8 inch in the  old scale being doing some research on her and will build her on the day of the Midway battles her last day in operation.
Water ballast of course with transfer pumps and trimming pumps fitted to keep her level have to drop her 182 mm into the water.Twenty channel radio gear using splitters to get the extra channels i  build her years ago with the famous three flight decks in 1/72 scale this one is the single flight deck as 4th June 1942.Hope to have her build in two years and operational since i am semi retired due to injury the hull will be one of the focal point due to its strength for water ballast a plumbing nightmare should make the tug boat boys with some thing to tow around as well hope to show her build here in progress photos and you tube video and tons of still photos so watch this space tassie48.

At that size why would you need a remote?

I could imagine you chugging that around a very large pond.
