Clever person with lathe needed...
« on: March 31, 2010, 09:21:54 pm »

I need a clever person with a pretty fine lathe to produce me a part for a heli.

It's 7mm in diameter and 20mm in length, and made from aluminium. My current bit has snapped in two.

If you feel another material may be better than aluminium for it (this one's made from monkey metal anyway) then that's fine

It looks somewhat like the one in this picture, but not broken ;)

I'll pay a reasonable amount for one, the shops want £12.95 for a replacement rotor head block with this bit included and I don't need a whole new rotor. Plus I can't get the existing one apart.

Andy,

That will be a tough one to machine, the combination of the sphere profile and drillings complicate it.

I would suggest you dig deep and buy the spare - its only the equivalent of 4 pints after all!  :D

mmmmm just imagine a CNC programmer  {-)

two spheres ... opps......

1st sphere first = 18 x 2.2 divided by 11 x 27 squared all on the quotent of the SR of pi [3.14]   O0
2nd sphere second = 9.5 x 2.2 divided by 11 x 27 squared all on the quotent of the SR of a Pie  + TOMATO sauce

Add a few bob for the middle bit = $4,027.25 in brass or $4,018.00 in alloy  :o :} %% >>:-( - Derek

Well, if you are struggling, I could make one,

lets see:

materials..about £2.00 plus delivery for the aluminium

Ball turning tool = £25.00 maybe

labour.. 4 or 5 hours @ £40.00 an hour, (allows for getting the first one wrong)

oooo, I'm cheap :o

Yep - buy one  :-)) :-))
