Water jet propulsion insurance
« on: April 02, 2010, 12:08:34 pm »

Hi,

Could anybody advise where to get public liability insurance for a water jet propelled model boat.

I am a member of the MPBA and have just noticed that their insurance states "...Jet Propulsion powered
boats are specifically NOT covered by this insurance."

thanks

Flashtwo.

I am sure they mean rocket/turbine powered. A water jet is basically propeller driven.

You do well to query it at THIS stage Flashtwo cos some pinstripe suited vermin in an insurance company will use the terminology to wriggle out of a claim in the event of if they can.

Get it in WRITING.   O0   :-))

Would have thought by now that the firm that has wet floors would have dried them by now  and they would have given the guy a climbing up ladder instead of a climbing down one.

Hi,

A gas turbine is basically propellor driven and that is NOT covered either.

When I said propeller, I meant a water screw. Good luck.

Ned,

As advised, I e-mailed the MPBA and (despite it being Easter) they have kindly replied clarifying the situation. The MPBA website will be amended to remove any confusion with the  insurance.
