G'day,

I'd like to introduce myself.

My name is Bill and I'm an Australian. My state is Tasmania and I live on the NW coast

I'm starting out on this hobby  a bit late (50) although I have been a plastic modeller for many years.

I've always had an interest in Ships particularly Warships of the modern era.  My father was in the Navy (NZ) for 20 years, I went against the trend and joined the Army :-))

I'd like to learn scratch building that is the purpose of my joining this forum. Eventually I'd like to build a model of the HMNZS Royalist once I learn the techniques and can find plans of her.

If the are any other Tasmanians on this forum I'd like to take the opportunity to ask if there is any clubs on the NW coast. I've looked but been unable to find any so far.

My work takes me out of Australia frequently so my opportunities to learn are limited to when I'm back home.

Cheers,
Bill

Welcome aboard Bill.

You can put your location into your profile on the profile page if you like.
This allows others to see where you are from whenever you post.

I would recomend this to everybody. You never know who is just down the road, who may become a new friend.

 :-)) :-))

Done now :-)) :-))

Hi Bill and welcome to the forum from another member from the big island just across Bass Strait  :-)) You're never too old to start a new hobby, anyway, 50 is not old, I was in my late 60s when I crossed over from RC flying to model boats.

As I always say to new forum members, there's lots of talented people here who are only too willing to help, you only have to ask. Some of them even know what they're talking about  {-) {-)

Peter.
