The sea Imp is now finished it had it,s maiden voyage at the Merstram show the other week ,, it didn't go to well at all, I didn't fit ant rudders as I thought that the action ESC/mixer unit would do it all for me but with the tug only measuring 13" long the controls were way to fierce and It wanted to spin all the time .
So Del and I had a re-think on the way back and agreed that I would need to fit rudders with external linkages as there is no room inside and no access to the inner stern area.
Rudders were made from plasticard and brass tillers were fitted a small bore model aircraft snake/bowden cable was fitted, the Action mixer/ ESC unit was removed in favour of a single M-tronics ESC ,micro switches were fitted to the steering servo to cut one motor on each side when full rudder is thrown.
success! Last Sunday morning at our local boating lake I sailed it again and it handled fine , I will be using it at the forcoming shows ( wicksteed, Alfold, wings and wheels) if any one wants a look /chat about it.
