A big thank you to everyone, especially the Wicksteed Park MB Club, Wicksteed Park, and the Mayhem committee who have run the event today and of course tomorrow. I?ve had some messages from Bill, Pete and Sean passed on asking about me participating why I?m not there?
Unfortunately, some will only now know that I?m not there as much as I wish and want to be. This is the first Mayhem in it?s history I?ve missed- some how my detachments have always been lucky not aligning with the show- I?m currently incapacitated at work, I was called in early for a right hip arthroscopy on Tuesday. I fought tooth and nail against the dates but was ordered by a medical colonel to follow my appointment.
For those who I read about my previous issues will now that I?ve been diagnosed with hip arthritis and a torn labrum resulting in me struggling to walk without a limp, and I was unable to carry items easily. I was taken in on Tuesday at 0730 and left 13 hours later with a ?repaired? hip. So that was the good news? the bad news resulting in me not able to walk more than 10 yards without crutches, my hip was in a horrific state, I won?t go into detail but essentially I was not going be make the 6 months I was expecting to wait for the treatment without my hip collapsing. I was in for two hours instead of the standard 1 hour whilst the surgeon rebuilt the hip.
The committee, and WP club have jumped in at last minute to cover me and my usual duties, and I?ve been kept informed of the day and how things are going on a regular basis. And I thank them for keeping me in the loop despite being over 100 miles ways!
So I should be on my way to being fixed long term, but I want you all to enjoy the weekend, especially for me, and I will be back to my usual self and sorting out Mayhem 2027 with the club and mayhem committee!
