Planning to build the Ayton/Ormesby Cross
« on: April 23, 2010, 05:25:51 pm »

Hi there I am new here although not a new builder of boats - past exploits are: a scratch built carbon fibre 1m yacht, a scratch build 6s FE, and currently building a heavily modified Zipp Kit easy vee it contains kevlar, carbon fibre, lexan, hybrix, luxeon LED and graphite. I also have a few dolls houses to my name .....sadly the most interesting material here is polyfiller stones.

For various reasons, I am about to move in to the world of tugs. Next project Ayton Cross from MMM. Hope you all agree this is a good tug for proper tugging.
I will inevitably do a few modifications and was wondering what suggestions that you might make to making what seems a great kit in to a fantastic one.
From experience what could be better? What would you guys do to improve your last boat? Winches, Bilge pump, rusting, monitors, raboesch bow thruster? What is that small black box on a stalk that has recenty appeared on its upper foredeck?

Look forward to hearing from you all
