Has anyone got a copy of their membership form that you can pm to me?

Paul,

I am the web master for the MPBA and am sorry to hear you can't get the membership form off the web site. I have just tried and it works perfectly! What programme are you using to open it? I use Foxit and that is OK. I don't have Adobe Reader, but will install that and check it out. I suspect the problem is not with the PDF, but with reader programme.

I will try to send a copy by PM, or if you PM me your address I'll put a hard copy in the post.

Regards,

Barrie

Hi Barrie.

Have Pm'd you my email address as requested.

It's not only me who has been having problems though. Must be the Lincolnshire air!

Both of us are running Adobe, both are getting the 'file damaged' message.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried downloading it from IE8 with Adobe as my default reader and it crashed the tab - looks like there is a problem! Most people will be using Adobe.

Complicated things computers..... %)

I've tried with Acrobat Reader v9 and it works fine. That's with Win 7 and Firefox latest version. I have some people carrying out tests for me. If necessary I will re-convert, but I only have the PDF at the moment.

If you are using Adobe Reader you should be aware that there have been a host of security problems with it over the last few years, and applying regular security updates is definitely recommended (or switching to something like Foxit or Ghostscript!). A lot of modern malicious software uses security bugs in Adobe to infect your machine, because it is very common and riddled with security weaknesses...

If you want to stay with Adobe, you should currently be on Adobe v9.3.2. Here is the most recent security bulletin calling for everyone to upgrade.... http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-09.html

That's why I use Foxit, that and it used to take forever to load. V9 is better in this respect, but I prefer Foxit.

After some more testing by other members of the MPBA NEC, it would appear to be some combination of Acrobat Reader and (probably) Firefox that corrupts the file. If anyone else has trouble then they can email the webmaster (MPBA)  - thats me :}
