Once you've registered, you keep the name for all races.
The start was a disaster, the French forum went MAD!!
Half the boats (including mine) were registering 13.7 knots, but after an hour, had gone nowhere.
I reckon Andy tied us all up to the start bouy  O0 {-)
Anyway, they restarted at about 1.30pm so off we go.
At the moment, out of 27000 skippers, the pilot boat is 619th  :o  What's that about??
Presumably, if you started now, you'd be 620th  {:-{ {:-{

Who's been repainting their boats then .....  :-)) :o

Cheers

Well, the latest craze seems to be carrying your boat overland  :o
No doubt the organisers will sort it out soon (you might have got away with it Boatmadman)  ;)

All good fun  {-) {-)

The tiny cross under the boat was still in the blue, the speedo said 15.7 knots!  It was only when I checked the'GinaT' line from 'Mayhem omra85' , I saw it was registering ZERO!
Hmmm - the coastline is obviously not as accurate as in the Clipper race  >>:-(
Oh well, lesson learned - I'll give you an 8 mile start, ain't I kind  <:( <:( <:( <:( <:(

Just make sure your boat is facing the right direction before the start if possible..

No Ian,I think it is 6.ooam for GB
"Departure from Qingdao: 02 March at 7:00 am GMT+1 (Paris local time)" according to OKdiver1.
Hpwever, the "sign in" page says 06.00 GMT+1, so I've asked which it is!

Don't forget that the server will be down for 3 hours between 11.00hrs and 18.00hrs (1000 hrs to 1700hrs ??) tomorrow (Mon) but the JV winds look steady so we should be ok.

I know this was about the last leg, but just a point of interest - apparently it is common to ask if someone will steer(crew) your boat, if you are away.
As its a long race this time, and anyone is away, can we have volunteers to crew.
I am here most of the time but in bed between 11pm and 7.00am (beauty sleep!!) so can do any other time, but I may need help myself on 7th March 10.00am to 5.00pm if the wind is tricky.
Just PM each other with sign in details and leave it up to someone else   %) {-)
NO responsibility will be accepted for lost places  :o :o {-)

Cheers

thats handy to know. someone please volunteer or is it just me thats away a lot. i can do your night time shift when i'm about if anyone wants help from running aground or whatever. my email said 7.00am GMT+1 start but maybe they have taken into account we are on daylight saving time or is it just to add more confusion?

Hi Craig, I've had confirmation that the start time is 6:00 am GMT, so you can work yours out from that.
It will be evening your time so you'll be able to look after your start. Let me know (PM) if you're going to be away for any length of time, and I'll steer for you.
Cheers
Danny

PS Larry (the long sail) did well last time ...!

No extras for me (apart from the 150hp Yamaha outboard)  %%

I had a 105E and a Mark 1 - thin wheels and a stopping distance measured in miles ...  %)
Plus, on a hot summers day, the joy of feeling your BriNylon shirt glued between your back and the luxury vinyl seat - ah, the memories  :-))

Cheers
Danny
PS, joining us in the regatta Dicky?  :-)) {-) %%
I used to race a 105E. well the Broadspeed Version of it. Group 5 Saloon Cars. Fibre glass boot bonnet and doors, plexiglass windows, one bucket seat full cage. Steel Crank, Hepolite Pistons and a 40 80 80 40 Kent Camshaft, twin 40 DCOE Weber Carbs and 4 branch exhaust, 103 HP, and fantastic fun. Only had 51/2 inch rims and 185 tyres. Suspension totally rebuilt. We called it a Ford but really there was not much Ford in it! Those were the days. Wheel to wheel with Imps and Mini Coopers. magic!
