The hull has had it's 1st coat of varnish, which was rubbed down once it had dried, she's just had her 2nd coat of varnish applied. The bridge window frames have been cut out and stuck in place,so it's looking a bit more like the thing now. I haven't had much in the way of time to work on her today, but hopefully tomorrow will see some more progress done to her,and I can post up some more pics. ;)

Bit late now, but one of the most effective ways to seal a Balsa hull with this or hard chine construction is tissue paper and "Dope". The tissue is the same as used for covering toy Aeros and the method was given an excellent write up by FLJ in the Swordsman build log. Strengthens the structure too as well as giving a smooth base.

Some more detailing done, including finding another couple of aerials. Dropdown panels represented on aft superstructure. ok2

Didn't get a lot of time to work on the boat today, but still,I've made the liferaft holders & rafts, fitted some ammo lockers and the fancy deflector plate at the rear of the deckhouse. The hull has had it's 3rd coat of varnish now too.I'm still waiting on my ships boats and davits to come through the post.

Ok,she's had her tank test(re bath),which she passed with flying colours. All the R/C gear has been installed and tested, though trimming her weightwise is going to be a headache. At the moment, she has 2x 3700mAh 7.2V  batteries, one either side of the motor, plus a 3700mAh 4.8V pack in her just to reach the boot top. I'll be running her on just the 4.8V pack,as the revs produced by the 7.2V pack, will power her like a fast electric. She's had her first coat of paint, but I've now run out of grey,so she's going to have to wait for her next coat. I'm charging up my camera battery just now,so that I can take some pics and vids of her afloat and sailing.

Had her at the pond today for a test sail, and all I can say is oops. Even at 4.8V,I had to turn my throttle EPA right down to almost nothing,or she'd try to act like a diving speedboat. This little thing is fast, faster that the Sovremenny RTR and that's saying something. I need to add some more lead to the stern compartment,to try and keep the bow up a bit. You'll see what i mean from the photo's and short vid.(I'm barely using any throttle here).
I'd to take out the stickpacks,as they were just too heavy,I replaced them with some lead sheet instead, but she still rolls like a pig. I may need to fit stabalisers to her to try and cut down on the roll.

I'll post the vid once it's been uploaded.

Think a smaller motor might be a good idea.
Other than that, well done it looks ok. :-))

I've still to finish painting her,and fit the ships boats when they come through, but other than that I'm very happy with how she's turned out.  :-))
The only reason that she's got the 540 motor in her,is that was all that I had laying around, and I wanted to keep my costs to a minimum.  ok2

Decks have been painted, and most of the ship has been given a coat of varnish,to protect the surface.

I got my 30mm plastic props through today, along with some lifebelts, both of which have been added to the ship.  I should have my ships boats through either tomorrow or the next day, which will finally allow me to fill in that large gap on the upper deck. I've made up a stand for her, crude though it is,but it'll do me just now.

Thanks for that Tug. There's still a lot of work to be done to her,but at least I've got an operational boat. Some more short vids, and a few pics from today.

Davits fitted, and the ships boats roughly in position, they've still to be painted though, but it'll give you a good idea of how she's going to look.

Thanks for the compliment Martin,it's much appreciated. That's the bulk of the work done now,it's just the details that I've still to finish, but I'm very happy with how she's turned out,and how she sails.
