I put ten to twelve coats buffing in between each one. In the picture are the brands I use preferably the one on the right especialy on new molds! Eight coats you're about right but I wouldn't risk it just in case! If I was you I'd put a couple more coats just to be on the safe side! Spraying a mist of PVA it would be even better, that's the proper way after all. Up to you!

A little progres on the back end of the top hull. Getting there!!!

And finally I pulled out from the mold the bottom half of the hull. I think it turned out pretty good! Quite pleased with it!!!

Its really coming along now Yannis - where are you going to sail her - no lakes that I can recall on Corfu but plenty
of hotel swimming pools.

Thanks a lot Geoff!!! I usually go in the pool at Gouvia Marina or in the Athletic Centre by the airport. It has a huge pool but sometimes the personel get funy about it! Sometimes they let me, sometimes they don't! Another option I have is the RC Hotel wich is located on the hills oposite Gouvia. Once a while I get brave enough and play in the sea(periscope depth).

Good evening everyone!
Did some work on the separation line of the upper and lower hull and the only place that needed some filling it was infront of the dive planes. Also added some details on the deck and the rudders-dive planes. Here is some photos!

That works very well.
Is that a pneumatic system?

No, it's not pneumatic! It works with a geared pump! Thanks for your nice coment!

Don't know really but I can assure you, to my surprise, that pump is really strong!

Good evening everyone!
Added some more details on deck and sail. Also today it was the first encounter with water just to get a rough idea of how she behaves and how big the ballast tank should be! Conclusions are...1) Stability problems wich means that I'll have to keep the CG really low in the hull. 2) The ballast tank will be smaller than expected and 3) It takes a lot of effort pulling her out of the water, nearly broke my back today! Definately is a job for two! Here is some photos!

Looking very good!

You will need to get going with foam and lead below the waterline and you do have a lot of (heavy??) equipment in the sail.

My favourite lifting aid are two, old cam belts from diesel trucks. (They are very strong and stiff enough to place under the sub in the water. They are also long enough so that you can lift it by straightening your knees. No need to bend your back!)

Hallo everyone!
Making the WTC and the main ballast tank. The pipe going through the tank is for the trim tank.

Greetings from damn hot Corfu!

This is what I've been up to lately. I'm still working on the WTC and also made the bow planes mechanism! This is my second attempt and it's based on the original plans of the real thing! Works a treat!

Hallo everyone!
Progress is really slow due to other obligations but getting there! Finished with the WTC and it was tested for water leakage! Passed the test so I've started putting in all the bits and pieces and also I've installed the prop shaft and prop! Here is some pictures and a video!

Just finished with the bow planes mechanism! Only needs minor adjustments and will work a treat! It's based on the plans of the original. Here is a video.

Yannis, thats a superb model, and superb modelling!

Couple of questions: in the real one do the periscope suite all go up and down together as per your model or have you taken liberties?  Also, why are the bow planes asymmetric?  Do they counteract torque I wonder?

I believe the hydroplanes are designed for small submarines where space is at a premium, the Type 202 submarines of the post war Federal German Navy used this system. If you notice, there is no up and down pivoting, only proportional deploying outboard of the hydropane bit by bit. One side is used to rise and one side to dive, quite clever really.
