Yes you do need a speed controller ,but before we get into that territory what is the boat and what are the motors

The WARSHIP is the HT2877 which I am trying to mod. I believe the engines are twin 380 racing motors.
The only other way I could do the modis to use a different frequency is to change the chrystals but I cannot identify it on the printed Circuit. Any help will be appreciated

Glen,

Can't see an obvious crystal amongst that lot, unless its the large dark green item lower left. If it is, it doesn't look something you could easily replace.

I think I have bitten off more than I can chew. I suppose I could put everything back to normal and use it as it is.
If I could find out the maker I could ask if they have other PC that I could fit

Glen,

I doubt it! Practically all these RTR boats seem to use the same frequency. Your best bet is to see if you can find a local model boat club and see if someone therr could help you. Which part of the country are you in?

I have just come across my manual for the ACOMS. and found this diagramme
Could I replace"A" or "B with my motors?
I have no speed controller as yet what would I need?
Whats the function of the speed controllewr, how does it work?
What are the leads "D" for?

Glen,

B & C are servos. You would normally replace on with an ESC. The diagram shows a mechanical speed controller which would be attached to one of the servos. These are quite hard to find now. The other servo is connected to a rudder - which you dont have :)

The connectors at D are to connect a battery charger for charging the battery.

To reproduce the current setup in your boat you would need two ESCs, one for each motor, and a mixer to mix the rudder signals and throttle signals so you can steer. I'll try to sketch the arrangement and send you a personal message.

Regards,

Thanks I am coming to tyhe conclusion that its cheaper to buy a new boat cost wise as speed controllers are dearer
I still think if I could find someone who sells the pc cards complete it would suit me better
